Hello! My name is Allie Cordon. I am 14 years old, Born on April 10th 1994. I am a freshman at Stevenson High School. I am on the freshman cheer team here also. The hours of practicing are crazy but its a fun time with all of my friends and with all the work we do it really pays off! the fresman football team has not won a game yet and they are horrible but hopefully they will turn it all around and win a game :) I love/hate stunting. It is really hard work and takes a lot of strength and concentration. My stunt group consists of 2 bases, a flyer, and a back spot. I am one of the bases. I am also the sub flyer if one of our flyers get hurt and have to sit out a game. I love flying. It takes alot of work to keep your balance. I love being a base and learning new stunts to try with my flyer. My flyer Erin is very light-weighted and flying comes naturally to her. I am the shorter base so my base partner always has to bend down a lot for us to be even because it looks really sloppy in the air when shes uneven. We have our basic elevator cradle, extension, full, sponge, reload, cuppie, mountain climber, baskettoss, and we have been pushing ourselves for over 4 months trying to get our lib when shes balancing on one foot. Cheer is very hard work and exercise. We practice everyday after school for 3 hours doing splits, jumps, cheers&chants, stunting, team bonding, stretches, arm motions, and much much more. Our coach, Blair is really nice and shes a great coach. She really pushes us to get better. You might think cheerleading after school is a complete blow-off activity and we can just fool around and do whatever we want. But you are very wrong. Coach Blair does not let us fool around. If we do something bad or talk or fool around, she makes us run numerous amounts of laps around the upstairs track. 2 miles is usually her cutting us some slack. Our team does a lot of fundraising. Bottle drives, and car washes about every 3 weeks :) We raise a lot of money. We raised enough to pay for all of our 30-dollar poms and half of our warmups. We went to cheer camp in the beggening of July. That was such a stressful 3 days, it was crazy. 2 nights in a non-air conditioned condensed dorm room with 4 people sharing 2 beds. Yeah it was crazy. It was a very christian-orginized camp. We would go to anti-drug and alcohol meetings but it was somewhat fun because they had a DJ and we got up and danced. I completly lost my voice on the final day. Waking up at 6 in the morning and going outside to practice in the chilly morning weather then being outside till around 11 at night practicing was awesome. NOT. But i have to admit that was a truly great experience. Competitive season starts in the begening of November. I am really excited but its going to take a lot of hard work out of our team. I would really like to make the junior varsity competitive team, but im going to have to really work hard and practice and strive to get my backhandspring. I WANT IT SO BAD :) Our team is no longer a team. Its a family <3
